Audiovisual Services
Since receiving my AEC in sound and music recording from Recording Arts Canada in Montréal in 2013, I have been working as a full time technical professional in the events and entertainment industry. I am well known in Calgary’s independent music community for my abilities as a FOH and monitor engineer, but I also have a wealth of experience providing audiovisual services for corporate events, expos and theatre productions.
Engineering as a Hobby
In the past few years I have rediscovered a passion and intrigue for electronics and making that began at a young age. As a result, I have been slowly piecing together a small electronics lab in my apartment, and bringing numerous projects and ideas to life. Some notable projects include building a 3D printer from scratch, building an Arduino powered camera bot, and building an SDI video reclock unit including designing a PCB around a specific integrated circuit.
Music
Music is what originally inspired me to pursue a technical career in audio, and now these two skillsets work together in my unique approach to music creation.
I am currently working on two active musical projects: Time Boy, a progressive rock/indie project with a wide reaching collection of influences, and my own solo project, which serves as a vessel for my own songwriting with the help of some gifted collaborators.
Software
Initally being inspired by the prospect of being able to write software to remotely control digital audio console, I started learning python around the year 2018. From there, I ended up doing many small arduino projects, and even being contracted to write a full android app based on my knowledge of audio signals and sofware.
Since beginning my university career, I have worked two full coop terms as a firmware engineering intern, amongst other various development projects that led to embedded software development.
I am also currently an active contributor in firmware and RTL design on a DIY RISC-V emulator and FPGA implementation known as the Angry Goose Initiative.
Electronics Repair
In direct reaction to the pandemic beginning in 2020, I was inspired to diversify myself and explore other types of freelance services I could provide as a business. Over time, I have become quite comfortable with troubleshooting and repairing electronics. This has allowed me to start a small side business repairing equipment. In doing so, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of electronics that I would not have been exposed to otherwise. For example, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of vintage organs, as well as more modern synthesizers, audio amplifiers, and computers.
